It slips under the strings right behind the nut to silence overtones and ringing noise in that area, especially on high-gain settings. Players currently use FretWraps for this purpose, but when sliding it up the neck to do two-handed tapping or soloing, the headstock is left un-muted. So the FretWedge stays in place while FretWraps can be moved around as you wish, they complement each other for a full 100% noise dampening solution!
